A clearer understanding. More confidence in practice. Progress in competition. Hear how athletes describe their experience working with Maggie and Sam.

From softball to javelin at Iowa State.

Kalli came to us as a softball player who had never thrown a javelin. In less than a year of training together, she threw nearly 135 feet. We helped her pursue an opportunity to continue throwing at Iowa State, where she is now a member of the team.

Without Sam and Maggie, I honestly don’t think I would have gotten the opportunity to throw in college or at all. … They genuinely care about their athletes and are a large reason I am where I am today.

Finding rhythm through a different perspective

They gave me a different perspective on throwing the javelin and were able to teach it in a way that really clicked with me. Through their coaching, I have become more relaxed, controlled, and rhythmic in my approach and delivery.

Since working with them, I am throwing at my best, staying pain-free, and continuing to improve.

Personalized coaching. Sixteen feet of progress.

I love how Maggie and Sam tailor workouts just for me and don’t provide a generalized workout. … I’ve also improved so much technically working with them, and my PR has improved by 5 meters. I feel like a more well-rounded athlete compared to before I was working with them.

Two coaches. A shared focus on you.

Lakin, a collegiate javelin thrower at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, improved his personal best from 209 to 213 feet during the season he describes working with Maggie and Sam. In his testimonial, he shares how their experience helped him trust his body again, relax through the throw, and find adjustments that worked for him.

They both want the best for you. They bounce ideas back and forth the entire time to try to fit your needs and find exactly what you need in your form.

From throwing harder to throwing farther.

Coming from football and baseball, Niko was used to pushing harder and doing more. Javelin called for a different approach. Over three years of training with Maggie and Sam, he learned how to train for the event and progressed from 177 to 212 feet. His journey took him to collegiate javelin at Emporia State University.

I’d recommend anyone that throws javelin to train with them. They’re great people. They want to see you succeed. They’re going to make sure you get the proper training.

A decade away. A new chapter at 157 feet.

A mom of two returning to javelin after a decade away, Kay knew she had more to give. After struggling to move beyond 141 feet, she began working with JVLN, and reached 157 feet within six weeks.

I couldn’t get past 43m but knew I had a bigger distance in me. I reached out to JVLN Performance and within 6 weeks I jumped to 48m. They provided a programme, weekly calls and technical changes. I’m excited to work with them over the winter after seeing such great improvements in a short time.

Throwing farther started with throwing differently.

After eight years in javelin, Matthew was looking for his next step. With Maggie and Sam, he found a clearer understanding of his technique and specific ways to keep developing between practices.

Technical issues I had struggled with for years, such as keeping my arm up, hitting key positions, and trying to overpower the throw, were quickly identified and corrected. Their emphasis on precise drills and proper positioning has helped me become a more consistent thrower, while their at-home exercises allow me to continue developing outside of practice.

Throwing the javelin has been my passion for the past eight years. I have been blessed to compete alongside and learn from many experienced throwers and coaches. However, like any athlete, I have had moments where I struggled to find that next step in my development.

That next step became much easier when I began working with Maggie and Sam. They helped me break barriers and take my throwing to another level.

Through their coaching, I have learned that throwing far does not simply mean throwing harder. It is about hitting the right positions at the right time and efficiently transferring power into the javelin. I’m excited to continue improving under their guidance and see where they can take my throwing next.

A first state title, won on the details.

Hadyn won his first Kansas state championship in 2026. He and the coaches are still working together, on the small technical details and on the reasons behind every change.

Maggie and Sam are truly exceptional coaches. Their ability to recognize and correct even the smallest details in technique has made such a noticeable difference in both performance and confidence. They don’t just tell an athlete what needs to change; they take the time to explain why and help them understand how to make those adjustments successfully.

Seven events. A clearer approach to javelin.

As a heptathlete, Annika balances the demands of seven events. Working with Maggie and Sam gave her specific technical guidance for javelin, workouts tailored to her, and greater confidence in competition.

As a heptathlete, balancing all the events can be tough, but Maggie and Sam provided the exact technical guidance I needed for the javelin. They break down the throw in a way that really clicks, tailoring workouts specifically to me.
